If you’re looking to spice up your regular drink routine, this rum slush is a perfect choice, not only will you and your friends feel like real pirates when drinking it, but you’ll also have a lot of fun making it.
When I first made this I was super skeptical and to be 100% honest, it was way too strong the first time I made it, but now, about a year and a half later of consistent effort, I’ve perfect the recipe.
Another fun fact about rum, did you know that it’s been used as currency?
Yes, during the 18th century it was common for sailors to receive rum as part of their benefits package.
But enough history lessons, for now, let’s take a look at the recipe and see how simple and easy it is to make!

Rum Slush Recipe Ingredients
- Sprite
- Dash grenadine (for color)
- 1 pint of rum
- 1 cup of sugar
- 7 cups of water
- 1 can of frozen lemonade
- 1 can of frozen orange juice
Rum Slush Recipe Preparation in a Slushie Machine
Step 1
In a large bowl put together and combine the orange and lemonade juice.
Step 2
Add the sprite, dash grenadine, rum, sugar and the 7 cups of water.
Step 3
Mix thoroughly for a few minutes.
Step 4
Pour the mix into the slushie machine.
Step 5
Put on the lid and switch to the “SLUSH” mode on the side of your slushie machine.
Step 6
Pour the chilled mixture into glasses, decorate and serve.
Important note – if your guests aren’t arriving for the next few hours, you have 2 options. Either make the Rum Slush beforehand and leave it in the slush machine with the “Preserve” mode turned on.
Or simply wait til 15-minutes before the guests arrive and start the machine then.

Rum Slush Recipe Preparation in a Blender
Step 1
In a large bowl (freezer-proof) put together and combine the orange and lemonade juice.
Step 2
Add the sprite, dash grenadine, rum, sugar and the 7 cups of water.
Step 3
Mix thoroughly for a few minutes and then place in the freezer for 3-4 hours.
Step 4
After the mix has frozen, add it to the blender and put on the lid.
Step 5
Using the “PULSE” function, periodically blend the frozen mix, until you get the desired slushie texture.
Step 6
Pour the chilled mixture into glasses, decorate, garnish and serve to your guests.
